The Luxury Cream Lipstick

I bought two lipsticks, in Lily and Carnation. I’m coming back for you, Zinnia!

My natural lips are more of a brownish neutral, full, with a medium tone skin. I’m also 62, and love Wayne because he never forgets that older women want nice makeup too. His tutorials are helpful, as our skin changes application should too, and colors you’ve never tried now look good and Wayne always remembers that.

It was hard to tell what colors to get as many in his line just seem a shade different and a bit light, and there haven’t been many online swatches yet. While maybe I would have enjoyed them all, many of the lighter colors may not have worked for me. Fortunately, both of the colors I picked are lovely and perfect, The Lily is a great neutral with a touch of pink. Carnation is a beautiful, sheer rose, which I liked much better than the recent Hermes rose release. I was worried as I prefer a cool undertone and the swatches I saw seemed warm, but these can be sheered out so you don’t feel like you have too much pink on. You have color on the lips, but it still seems natural, you know?

They are extremely creamy and do not settle into lines. While I haven’t gone out (who has?) I’ve worn them all day (yes, trying them both) and they seem to have good wear. I felt like I had nothing on after a couple hours, went to look in the mirror, and was surprised to see it was still there. I also bought a pencil and a gloss which I’ll review separately.

I’m the (unknown) neutral lipstick queen, buying every formula and color out there, and I have to say this is in my favorites. It’ll be hard to beat out Androgeny for me, but it may be possible! My recent fav has been pillow talk medium but this formula is much less drying and I’m sure I’ll reach for it more.

Since I have so many lipsticks from so many different luxury brands, I honestly think I have tried enough lipstick formulas and thus do not expect much from his collection even though Wayne Goss is one of my favourite and most respected make-up artists on social media. But I was wrong. The lipsticks completely blow my mind. They are truly hydrating and do not dry my lips after wearing for a day, which to me is a very rare scenario as most lipsticks just suck all the moisture out of my lips, making them chipped the next day. I do not know what formula Mr Goss uses, but it works for my lips and for that I have to say THANK YOU!

Some may criticise the lack of originality in the lipstick colours in Mr Goss's collection, but in my humble opinion Mr Goss thoughtfully think of the every day colours for everyday women in this collection. Yes they are basic colours, but they are colours that everyday women wear and I truly believe there is at least one shade suitable for every skin tone. I got Amaryllis and Carnation - the former is a perfect nude to my yellow skin tone and the latter is a perfect colour for brightening my complexion for either work or a night out. They are the colours I will go for every day. It's that easy to wear and match.

These lipsticks are now my favourites. I have very, very fair skin with yellow undertones and freckles and i find it extremely difficult to find a nude that doesn't wash me out. This feat is even more difficult if i dont have a full face of makeup on. I ordered shades lotus, ameryllis and orchid and love every single one of them. Amaryllis pulls slightly warm on me, i have pigmented lips and ameryllis shows up like a neutral-warm pink on me that brightens my complexion nicely. It even looks good on my skin without makeup on. Lotus is my dream "my lips but better" nude. Ive never been able to find a beige-based nude that didnt make me look dead but this is it. It has enough depth and pink to be flattering but enough beige to still be a true nude. Literally the type of shade ive been chasing over my entire makeup buying career. And orchid is a gorgeous, burnt, terracotta nude. Absolutely stunning. These lipsticks are creamy, hydrating, have a gorgeous sheen, and are pigmented enough to change the colour of your lips but also have a hint of sheerness that allows them to mesh beautifully with your natural lip colour. I’m a lipstick junkie. I will love a $4 or a $50 lippie and this is a perfect combination of sophistication and price. Camellia is a little more yellow and pale on me than I expected. But it wears well and leaves lips soft.

just got my lipsticks and am so happy with my purchase. The lipstick feels extremely comfortable on, is moisturizing, pigmented and yet looks incredibly natural. My lips tend to be on the drier side and these make them look positively juicy. I picked up three colors(wanted Lily but it had sold out) Carnation, Zinnia, and Amaryllis. Posting my pictures, even though I look like hell to show the colors. Including one with me - no lipstick for reference. Lipsticks with any preachiness tend to look orange on my lips so wasn’t surprised that amaryllis looked a little orange, nothing pairing it with a lip liner can’t fix though) Me with bangs is carnation. Other points of reference, I have light to medium neutral skin with yellow-green undertones. The foundation I am wearing is designer lift in shade 5.

When Wayne announced his lipstick collection, my eyes were immediately drawn to this color. Carnation is a my lips but better shade on me. It compliments my medium olive skin tone perfectly and pairs perfectly with mauve lipliner. Can’t wait so see what else Wayne releases.

I am super happy that I got my hands on the shade Magnolia. It's a beautiful bright warm toned pink/peachy shade that really stands out on my skin tone. I am light/medium with yellow warm undertones. This definitely is a transformative shade that I can see pulling differently on many skin tones. The formula is very smooth, creamy and hydrating. It's a thin consistency that feels almost like a balm on the lips. It doesn't settle in my lip lines or give that weird demarcation between your inner part of your lips either. It stays hydrating the whole time wearing it. Lasts about 4-5 hours on the lips and fades beautifully. Definitely a perfect everyday lipstick that you can be confident in and not worry about.

I was 10 minutes late to the launch (shame on me), and the only one left from my lipstick wishlist was Daisy. Grabbed her, 2 glosses, 2 liners. you guys - this is THE best nude I've ever tried, and I've gone through most of the HG's people talk about. Shes slightly pink, buildable, soft - like the perfect snapchat filter on my lips. I will be back for the rest of my wishlist. For reference, I have light skin w/ an olive undertone, hazel eyes, blonde hair.

WAYNE - you, my friend, are a god send.

I opted for Zinnia ("rich berry with fuchsia and red tones") and Cinnamon ("rich brick red"). I will admit that I was not sure about the products when I opened the package; Cinnamon is quite brown and Zinnia appears brown in the tube as well. But to my surprise and delight, Zinnia is a beautiful, dark berry that is so comfortable to wear! It is a bit messy as a cream (teeth checks required) but the color is so lovely that I can’t complain too much. I'm happy to break away from matte and this lipstick doesn't dry out your lips at all, although I did have to reapply often as I was drinking water (at home!). As you can see, the color is much more of a browny-berry than anything close to red or fuchsia and it does not look anything like the pictures. That said, everyone's lips are different and your natural pigment will cause variations in color. I'm happy to support Wayne and can't wait to try other colors as they are restocked.

For $41 CAD, I expected a fairly luxe lipstick. To my surprise, the lipstick is smaller than conventional lipstick tubes. It does have some weight to it but I dislike that the cap was thin plastic and felt cheap. For the same price (or less), I can buy a Charlotte Tilbury lipstick which has a metal casing and is weighted on both the cap and base. Moving onto the product itself, I like the colour a lot. It is a peachy nude that looks nice on light-medium skin with warm olive skintone. Here are my problems with it: (1) It applies sheer and becomes patchy when I try to build it up. This is not an issue with my Charlotte Tilbury, MAC, or Pat McGrath lipsticks. (2) The lipstick continuously rubs the inner tube when I draw it up/down. I had thought the lipstick was dislodged but that isn't the case - its just too tight of a fit/poor quality control, so everytime I use my lipstick, I lose product and can't use a lip brush to pick it up (would damage the actual lipstick bullet. I have tried to reposition the lipstick bullet but it doesn't budge and I don't want to risk breaking the bullet. Overall, I am just disappointed by this lipstick and honestly feel betrayed by videos from Mel Thompson and Michele Wang :(
