Lactic Acid 10% + HA is a high-strength exfoliating serum with lactic acid and hyaluronic acid.
This treatment resurfaces the skin to promote a bright, even tone and a smooth, soft texture. For a more gentle formulation, try The Ordinary Lactic Acid 5% + HA.
Apply a few drops to cleansed skin before oils, creams, and moisturizers at night only. Allow a few minutes for it to absorb. Avoid contact with eyes. If irritation occurs, this product can be diluted to reduce its strength.
This product should not be used on sensitive, peeling, or compromised skin.
Alpha hydroxy acids may increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun. Use sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure while using this product.
Lactic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid that exfoliates the surface of skin. It also has hydrating properties.
If your skin is sensitive or you are sensitive to alpha hydroxy acids, we recommend starting with Lactic Acid 5% + HA. Lactic Acid 10% + HA is best for experienced acid users.
Lactic acid is considered safe for use while pregnant or breastfeeding, but it’s best to check with your healthcare provider first.
Apply it to cleansed skin before oils, creams, and moisturizers at night only. Allow a few minutes for it to absorb.
Yes. We recommend proceeding with caution if you choose to use it with products containing retinoids or alpha or beta hydroxy acids, as this may cause irritation. You may want to alternate these products every other day. If irritation occurs, this product can be mixed with another product to reduce its strength.
Apply it once per day at night. If your skin is sensitive or if you are new to acids, we recommend starting with Lactic Acid 5% + HA and applying it once per week.
Yes.

This is my holy grail chemical exfoliant. I apply it everywhere--head to toe. Literally! I apply it as an all-over body and face serum before bed each night, and I experience no irritation anywhere. On the face, I follow with the remaining steps of my routine after allowing 15-20 minutes to absorb. On the body, I apply a moisturizer after if needed but often find that my skin feels comfortable without additional moisture. My skin has become so much more even and soft, with diminished dark spots and redness. It has completely eradicated rough patches. It's incredible! I have an embarrassingly large stash of bottles since I go through it so quickly (about a bottle a week), but at this price it is STILL cheaper than the exfoliating lotions I used to buy, and the texture is such an improvement over the typical sticky, heavy formulas. As a plus, I can apply any body lotion I want on top of this serum, rather than just resigning myself to the typical unpleasant scent of acidic body lotions. As for the 5% vs. 10%, I am accustomed to chemical exfoliants but still find that many glycolic formulas sting my skin. This caused no stinging and no redness from day one. Both percentages will provide good results, but don't be afraid to give the 10% a try.
I love The Ordinary. Their products are exactly as advertised or lack there of...effective and inexpensive. I was using a serum that was $100/oz. in the morning and a serum/oil that was also $100/oz. in the evening and it was good but was not addressing all of my concerns, not to mention I was buying new bottles once every two months. Now for less than $100 I am able to address all of my concerns and I can see my supply lasting me at least 4 months.
I will admit in the beginning it's tough to figure out but with a lot of consideration after reading both The Ordinary's website and calling Beautylish's customer service number I was able to figure out my custom regimen for my 32 year old skin with concerns around aging(wrinkles), mild breakouts, undereye dark circles and hyperpigmentation. Morning: 1.)cleanse(Sunday Riley) 2.)toning mist (Jurlique) 3.)Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG 4.)Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% 5.)The Buffet 6.)Matrixyl 10% + HA 7.)Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA then I apply my makeup. I can feel my skin tighten as it plumps any lines for smooth skin before I apply my primer. Evening: 1.)Remove makeup with cleansing balm (Sunday Riley) 2.)cleanse (Sunday Riley) 3.)Gel toner(Sunday Riley) 4.)Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG 5.)Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA 6.)Every other night I switch between Advanced Retinoid 2% and Lactic Acid 5% + HA 2% 7.)Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 8.)Moisturize (Sunday Riley) 9.) 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil. I wake up so moisturized and my skin feels like as if it is brand new skin. It honestly freaks me out how smooth it is!
I know it seems like a lot but I am serious about keeping my skin healthy and youthful so I can avoid surgical or harsh procedures as long as I can. So if your in for a little bit of effort to figure out your routine you can make your own customized and potent serum cocktail at a fraction of the cost of what the luxury brands tell you have to pay for something that works.
Buyer beware: be careful when using this product because it is really strong. It didn't tingle or sting when I put it on but it's now 3 days later and I am still peeling. I think I will only be able to use this product once a week which is fine as it obviously works. I am excited to see the difference in my skin after being able to use this for a few months. I would recommend this as long as you don't have ultra sensitive skin and if you aren't used to strong ingredients you may want to start with the 5% version.
I have sensitive oily skin and my skin can get angry with strong acids. I use this 2-3 times a week, but instead of leaving it on all night, I use it almost as a mask. I put it on and keep it on for 15-30 minutes (I'm gradually increasing the time). It does its job in those few minutes and then I just rinse with water and apply my moisturizer like normal. This has made a big difference in rapidly fading my acne scars and melasma. I suggest easing into it. It gives you baby soft skin and you can actually see the effect in a week or two. Will definitely repurchase.
I have used this once (in combination with a full regime from The Ordinary) and I woke up with my skin softer than the $100 Drunk Elephant baby facial. I can't even believe the results of this for $7. It's amazing. I have almost everything in the entire line from this company, and this product showed results with one use. It may be challenging for people with sensitive skin (I have rosacea) but like it says you can build up tolerance by mixing it with other serums. Buy this now.
Finally a daily Lactic Acid treatment that doesn't dehydrate or irritate my sensitive skin! I use this product every night before bed. I apply it right after my toner but before my other water-based serum (The Ordinary Buffet). It doesn't over-dry my skin either, which is important because my skin is aging and already prone to dryness. It's thin, absorbs quickly, and plays well with my other skincare. It keeps my skin smooth, bright, and free of clogs, but doesn't cause flaking or peeling...a major win and a must-have for me!
I've seen YouTube videos about this product, I've heard people talk about needing a product like this is your routine and now that I'm 30 I've noticed a dramatic change in my skins texture and recovery cycle after a blemish. I didn't need a spot lightener I needed a way to exfoliate and resurface my skin...without costing an arm and a leg. I was nervous to try this because "acid" just sounds so harsh but I did my research, read pros and cons, how to use, what not to use with it, etc. and here I am. First, the price point is unreal. I'll give anything a shot for $10, and if I had known exactly what this would do for my skin I would have paid 10x that amount. My skin has never looked smoother, the texture more even and practically poreless (I didn't know that would happen!). I have an a sun spot that is lightening, acne marks (red) are fading and I have experienced zero peeling or redness from this product (I do have pretty sensitive skin but I started this on an every other day schedule and am now using every day at night). I want to buy a backup bottle of this because it's so wonderful, I never want to be without. It's a miracle worker. Buy it now before it sells out again. Can't wait to try more from this line.
This product is absolutely life changing! It's done an amazing job at improving my skin texture which used to be really rough. Ever since the first night I used this, my skin has been glowing and smooth, my pores have shrunk, and my pimples and scars diminishing. I was worried at first that I would wake up with peeling skin but it's the opposite. Since this product is an AHA, it's perfect for those with dry skin so don't be scared! I personally have oily skin with a few dry patches and it's worked wonderfully for me. I highly recommend this (or the 5% for those with skin that's not experienced with acids) to everyone!!
I started using this product a week and a half ago. I have acne-prone skin and have a lot of redness around my face because of acne. This product does what it says it will do. My skin is more smooth, my redness and texture are less noticeable and my skin tone is evening out. I love it so far.
I have been buying skincare and spending all my time during the last few years trying to figure out the fountain of youth products. My latest splurges included La Mer and lightening products from the local spa. Nothing has changed my skin so dramatically in a matter of DAYS (pigmentation on my jawline and forehead GONE) like the four products I bought here from The Ordinary (lactic acid, squaline, retinoid and the aha peeling solution). I am in utter disbelief that I'm looking at my own skin. Thanks to Wayne for sharing this and getting us into this fountain of youth line.
