Azelaic Acid Suspension 10% is a lightweight cream-gel with azelaic acid.
This treatment brightens the skin, reduces the look of blemishes, and promotes an even tone and texture. It also fades hyperpigmentation and reduces the redness associated with rosacea.
Apply a pea-sized amount to your skin at night after toners and water-based treatments. Avoid contact with your eyes and mouth. If irritation occurs, this product can be diluted to reduce its strength. We recommend wearing sun protection during the day when this product is part of your routine.
Azelaic acid is a compound naturally produced by yeast living on the healthy skin. It is also derived from grains, like wheat and barley. As an antioxidant, it works to brighten skin, reduce redness and dark spots, and fight acne with its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
This product works with many skin types, although it may cause irritation in the very sensitive skin. Because everyone’s skin is different, we recommend patch testing any new product before adding it to your routine.
Azelaic acid can be helpful in treating acne because it fights bacteria, soothes inflammation, and prevents pores from clogging.
We recommend applying it once per day at night after toners and water-based treatments.
Apply a pea-sized amount to cleansed skin after toners and water-based products at night. You can apply a moisturizer or cream on top if desired.
Yes, it's safe to use a retinoid as part of your routine if you're using azelaic acid. However, be sure to use them on separate days and assess if your skin is having any reactions such as redness.
It is safe to use another form of AHA or BHA in your routine but be sure to give your skin days off from high acidic products as well.

Decided to purchase after hearing Wayne Goss speak about it on one of his videos on YouTube. Glad I heard, I listened, and I purchased. At such a low price point it is amazing, how effective the product is. Unlike the directions where it says to use AM and/or PM, I only use it in the PM. I apply it after all serums, and before creams. Immediately after applying I noticed my skin being more supple, soft, and with time and consistent applications, I have noticed my skin becoming brighter, less drab, my skin discoloration and unevenness, getting better each and every day. There are days when I don't apply any makeup, and my face glows, a healthy glow.. I can't explain it, but at 54 without ever really having paid any attention to skincare, except for the past couple of years, and having mistreated my skin, now I can say I'm liking what I'm seeing. Doesn't matter when you start, as long as you start, what matters are the products you use, and The Ordinary has provided a line of products that are affordable & effective. Thank you Beautylish for making this line soon available to us all.
Finally, easily accessible Azelaic Acid for a song!
I originally purchased this to add to my skin brightening regimen and to see if it would help with some hormonal redness. Surprisingly, it's made my skin even more supple. That was an unexpected bonus! The silky texture is delightful, yet it isn't oily in the least. I dries down to lovely, soft finish without any shine, in my experience. After use, I can clearly see my redness is taken down a notch and skin feels and looks noticeable better, even after immediate use. My pores have never been an issue for me, but I do actively work to help keep those from getting congested. This definitely has made a difference in the ease in which I can keep pores their best. Bananas!
Azelaic Acid also does wonders for combating acne or in acne prevention (as part of a broader skin regimen) and should work incredibly well for who struggle with Rosacea.
If you have acne "scars" (acne discoloration) or dark spots....perhaps skin is a bit dull or needs toning and you are seeking something soothing, this certainly does a lovely job of delivering on promises. For even better results, I'd incorporate this into my routine with other products, such as C, Retinoids/Retinols, AHA's and routine use of Niacinamide for maximum benefit.
I would absolutely repurchase this and recommend this for use or gifting.
I don't know how many times I can't thank beauty lish for making azeliac acid accesible to American customers and plus at a reasonable price. My mother suffers from rosacea and this probably a miracle product unfortunately it's not cheap here in the us. It can cost up to 3 figures to say the least. Now let's get to the good stuff, this product is a great chemical exfoliate for sensitive reactive redness prone skin. It's a effective and b gentle. I can honestly say the redness on my mothers cheeks has gone down tremendously and I honestly have recommended it to all of my friends who not only suffers from sensitive skin but also from rosacea. Again you won't be disappointed ohh and it helps with the texture of bumpy skin which someone from rosacea tend to suffer from.
I have a lot of redness across my cheeks along with fine red visible capillaries, this is exaggerated when I sleep poorly. I use a small amount of this each morning. It is light weight and absorbs Very quickly. The redness has been reduced rather dramatically, my skin is so much smoother. Between using this each morning and the mild lactic acid product every other night my skin is smother, , brighter and significantly less red and irritated, and pores vastly less congested. I am so happy I tried this and a few other products from this line. Excellent and effective at an incredibly affordable price. I have very little brand loyalty but the ordinary has won me over.
I have tried EVERYTHING on the market and have not come close to something like this. I use it every night and as a spot treatment on acne marks in the morning. If I have a breakout forming, by the next day its gone and maybe just ever so slightly red. Works great on my extra sensitive acne prone skin. Please note that the first 2 or 3 applications may make your skin feel a little warm or "itchy" but that will pass quickly. I call this a holy grail acne fighter, skin brightener, and hyper pigmentation fighter. My skin hasn't looked this even and glowing in a long time. Great for summer too, because now I don't even need a foundation - just a little coverup and I am good to go.
I'm not done with my standard 4-6 week testing period for skincare but I'm really loving this product already. It doesn't really have a scent, and it dries down to an almost-matte finish. It never feels sticky when I apply it and sets very fast. I apply this at night because it DOES make your skin sensitive to light so make sure you apply a sunscreen during the day! When I wake up in the morning my face is so soft and my clogged pores are getting fewer and farther between. I'm excited to see how this helps out during hormonal acne breakouts. It's too soon for 5 stars but it 100% worth 4 stars!!! I will probably repurchase, too!
It leaves a nice matte finish and it definitely has helped my skin. This is one of the two products I use from The Ordinary that I used to get specifically from a dermatologist. Thanks to this line I was able to stop applying antibiotics to my skin which is a huge plus for me. I do think this product has a weird almost fuel-like smell when I apply it but it dissipates quickly and it's still worth it for the price and effectiveness of the product.
this product seemed promising. in reality, it layers terribly. most people will probably use this in layers, whether in conjunction with a serum or oil/moisturizer, etc. so beware.
here's a walk through of my night routine which is pretty basic.
1. cleanse 2. tone 3. apply azelaic acid, wait until dry 4. apply the ordinary 2% retinoid, wait until dry 5. facial oil
after applying a facial oil, the product pills up terribly, presumably due to the silicones in this product. I have also tried patting the oil into my skin as opposed to rubbing in circular motions but it still pills at the slightest bit of friction.
I have also tried cleansing, then only using the azelaic acid followed by a water based moisturizer just to see how it layers. it still pills up. its efficacy is questionable because it won't stay put on the skin. would not repurchase or recommend.
