About Sonia G. Worker One
Worker One is beauty blogger and makeup brush expert Sonia G.’s perfect eye shadow blender—it softens and diffuses pigment without over-blending, thanks to a combination of perfect grip and control. The versatile shape also doubles as a crease and shading brush.
“I know how hard it is to find the perfect blending brush. I designed this brush to my exact specifications—it has perfect grip and control, so it never over-blends.” — Sonia G.
Why It’s Special
- Designed as an eye blending brush that softens shadow in a single swipe, Worker One features a multipurpose shape that can contour and define eyes, too
- Each brush is handbound by master artisans in Japan using traditional brushmaking techniques for unparalleled performance and craftsmanship
- The sturdy handle is made from dense, sustainably harvested maple wood and coated with four layers of pigment and lacquer for a rich, dimensional finish
How to Use
To blend eye shadow, use circular or back-and-forth motions. For shading, pick up eye shadow with the tip or the thin side. Tap off the excess and apply in short strokes or soft patting motion. To use as a crease brush, angle the tip horizontally in the outer crease and use short back-and-forth motions to apply eye shadow. Extend the length of your stroke as the product deposits onto the skin.

Essential for eyes
Photo: MAC 239, MAC 224, MAC 221, Sonia G Worker One, MAC 217, MAC 233, Hourglass #3
Speedy: If you need eyes done in a hurry or enjoy subtle and well blended shadow applications, this is definitely a one-and-done brush that works at speed. It’s worth buying it for that alone.
I love it for brow-to-crease application as it applies shadow at a medium level (unlike Builder One which packs shadow on really well, which I prefer for the mobile lid). I use it daily to blend between dense shadow applications on the mobile lid.
Targeted Blending: When used with very narrow back-and-forth strokes, it allows for efficient and targeted blending between shades, reducing the likelihood of muddiness from shadows that don’t work well together.
Elongated/Oval Circumference: Worker One is not a typical round blender, but elongated. This makes it so much more versatile as it can blend at many different angles eg vertical, horizontal, 45 degree angle. This is hands-down my favourite blender shape and density.
Shader/Blender Combo Resilience: The beauty of Worker One is it has enough resilience to pick up shadow for light/medium density application, but enough flexibility to blend it all out beautifully.
Size: Not too big, not too small. An all-rounder.
Useful/Essential: This is one of those *super-useful* brushes that I didn’t realise is as useful as it is... until it was out of rotation for cleaning. Then it became VERY apparent. I needed to find THREE brushes to replace it (!) and was completely unhappy with all my domed blenders that seemed too small, too large, too hard, too soft, and just not the right shape. I also became annoyed with my prior shaders as I realised they were all too small for efficiency for everyday.
This is an essential brush. If you have any young friends getting into makeup, get Worker One. If you are busy and have limited time to apply eyeshadows, get Worker One. If you like having efficient tools that multi-task, or you are a minimalist who loves makeup, get Worker One.
Finish/quality: Worker One has Sonia G’s usual high quality, pretty, shimmering lacquer which hasn’t chipped from daily use or storage in my handbag next to other brushes.
Brush Hair: The goat hair is definitely soft; but sometimes I use it in a pokey way to blend out really tough shadows that adhere strongly to primer (aka, I should have remembered and applied them more lightly!). It’s then I realise I adore squirrel near my eyes... and also realise squirrel won’t cut it for efficient blending as it doesn’t have sufficient resilience. IMO Sonia G has made the perfect decision in balancing softness, resilience, and density for this all rounder brush.
An essential product. It may not look particularly special or unique... but believe me, it is!

It picks up the pigments with ease, and is a strong and efficient blender, without a single poke, ever! It is super soft, and just slightly bigger that the Mac 217 and the Wayne Goss 06 and new 18 brush. Even though the Worker One brush is bigger and more dense that the WG 18, the Worker One brush feels softer.
In the photo for size refrences is the CHIKUHIDO GSN-9, Mac 217, CHIKUHIDO T-7, Wayne Goss 06 and 18 and the Sonia G Worker One.

I have a thing for nice brushes. Wayne Goss, Hakuhodo, Koyudo, Tom Ford, and this brush beats them all! It is soft (seriously, zero pokes), dense and just perfection. I use it to lay down my transition color using the wide side, then use the skinny side to build up my crease. Just for fun one day, I also used it to apply my lid and brow bone shades, and then I realized why it is named the worker! It is so versatile, beating out my Haku g5523, j5523, MAC 217, and anything else I try to compare with it! It honestly has no comparison that I can find. I'm ordering a backup so I always have a clean one!

Another excellent and functional Sonia B brush. Great for the transition and crease area and an excellent blender. It’s more dense than it looks but so soft. Also would make a great “one and done” brush. I’m tempted to order a backup so that I can use one for color and have a clean one for blending. The only issue I have with this brush is that I don’t want to use any of my other brushes.

Wow! I didn't think any eyeshadow brush would ever overtake my precious Hakuhodo J5523 blender in the spot for favorite brush of all time. This one did. All I can say is, if you haven't tried it, you won't believe it. Yeah, it's that good! Soft soft soft, yet super efficient. Enough bounce to be able to blend out persnickety pigments or pack on color to the lid, but never a poke. Ever. And did I mention the handles on these brushes? OMG, they are gorgeous. I bought 4 of the Sonia G brushes and can't wait to pick up more as the budget allows. You won't be sorry if you find yourself completing the sale with this little gem in your cart. I'd give it 10 stars if I could!

Where do I start?. I never had high end brushes before. Mac was my most expensive ones. Morphe Zoeva...that's what I was using and never thought good brushes can change whole makeup game. When ordering Sonia G I was soooo hesitant. I mean to spend soo much for the brush? Come on it is crazy! So it took me a while to buy it. Thax to Beautylish flexible payments I ordered Worker one, Sculpt one, Crease one, Builder one and Chikuhodo T7. When waiting for my order to arrive I swear I thought Jesus what have I done? Spend 300 doll for few brushes I might be insane because there are many cheap brushes that you can get away with and have a great makeup done. I thought I m going to return if not all of them but few for sure. Let me tell you... since the moment I tried them I don't want to use any other brushes. Morphe-rubbish I wont buy ever again and I m 100% going to buy few more of Wayne goss to try. Now I understand what difference good brushes make. They literally do make up for you. I swear for my slightly hooded eyes I never had so easy eyeshadow application before. Ever! Thax a lot Beautylish you are wonderful!

This brush is a slam dunk over and over. I am a brush fanatic and have ummmm...hundreds of brushes (I have a problem...I admit it) from most luxury brands. This little brush has replaced several in my daily eye makeup routine. I use it to lay down the shadow, blend and smudge. It is a dream brush and it makes me feel bad for my other forgotten loves. I don't NEED them anymore and that is a travesty lol. It is pretty dense so when I need a more diffuse, blown out look my other brushes get to play...but for everyday, this baby does it all. Dude!!! I am loving me some Sonia G!!

I just received this brush from Beautylish. Shipping was amazingly fast and it arrived a day ahead of schedule! I opened the brush, felt the weight of the brush, the softness and density of the bristles and immediately ran back to my computer to place an order for more. I have been following Sonia's blog for awhile now and have looked to her for good brush advice and recommendations. I knew the brushes would be quality. I wish her much success and also more brushes to the line :)

I have so many brushes that I have accumulated over the years, from high end Goss, Chikuhodo, hourglass etc to affordable brushes, real techniques, it for ulta etc but the sonia G brushes have quickly become my favorites. They blend product like a dream without tugging or dragging and for eyes they give you that blown out look effortlessly without having to spend so much time blending and blending. They are constructed so well that I can see these brushes lasting many years without any issues. I like the weight of them and the feel of the solid handle not to mention they are very elegant looking. A win win in my opinion, although they are pricey and I find myself just purchasing one or two at a time beautylish is a great help with their option for multiple payments and keeps me from draining my bank account all at once ;o)
