Keyaki Brush Set

I still can't believe that I returned Sonia G brushes, but these little guys were just TOO small. I was on the fence about ordering them, but I love all things Sonia G. When they arrived and I pulled them out and held the mini blender...it was so small and disappointing. Don't hate me! I think if the handles had been a little thicker or sky blue I would have had to keep them. I was not attracted to the natural brown plain wood and then the tiny thin handles I felt like I would drop it. The goat hair was the usual soft perfect to the touch as always and the quality was still there. All the Youtubers carried on about how cute, but they were all given them for free so of course. I did notice they switched to larger brushes when using them to finish there make up. This is just my personal point of view, but I prefer the full size ones. Sorry Sonia I still adore you!

Sonia G does it again! I love these curation of these 5 brushes! The perfect to go size, the reddish brown grained Japanese wood is gorgeous, the soft undyed goat hair so I can see product, the face brush with synthetic mix to stand up to creams, the eye brushes are perfect love the flat little pencil brush for detail! I have a lot of Sonia G single brushes, Pro Face Set & Sky Eye Set so I don’t need brushes but always wanted a purse set and I LOVE these! Ordered 12/9 received 12/11 thanks Beautylish!

Bravo! Bravo! After patiently waiting for 2 weeks for the international delivery, I finally got my hands on this set. I have been purchasing high-quality makeup brushes from Beautylish since the end of 2015, and I take time to make my considered choice before buying.

Before the release of this travel set, I researched for a half year and decided to purchase the "Sculpt two"; "Jumbo blender"; and "Flat definer" individually from Sonia G's brush offering end of September 2020, as that would really fill the gaps in my current brushes collection, also fit my makeup habit. End 2020, I did a decluttering of my makeup brushes and found all three of Sonia G brushes to be strong contenders in my everyday rotation.

Though I love the well-engineered shape of these brushes, the smaller brush size really blends on my Asian eyes perfectly, but the Brown Saikoho Goat Hair is not workable with creams and liquids, which is a limitation. Until this set comes out!!!! Hat off to Sonia for the great choice of versatile brush shapes, and of course, exactly what I would go for ;P Besides the same brush shapes, and undyed goat hair, more resilient, better at blending action.

I love the finish of these handles!!!! I didn't love the lacquered finish of the normal line as it's not my aesthetic taste, neither blue nor red lacquer would be my choice at all. I love more natural or minimalistic finished handles, now insert Keyaki Zelkova Serrata Woden handles which stole my heart! The finish is also matte and soft touch, which is so chic and a joy to use every day. About the shortness of the handles, Indeed, it is significantly shorter than most of her normal-sized brushes, but as a fact, the Jumbo blender doesn't come much shorter than my Chikohodo T-7 eye blender brush, which I have two of, and are my all-time favorite blender brushes, the later was not marketed to be a short-handled brush, and I never found anything wrong with it in the application. So I guess, with these three eye brushes, as I only do makeup on myself, the short handle will not come as a hindering element, I am holding it closer to the Farrel for more detailed work anyway.

Now a few words about the two face brushes, which are new to her collection, as I don't have all of her face brushes, I cannot say how much more it is adding to the greater whole of her master collection. However, I can say that these two are very much a smart proposal to my current favourite brushes from other brands, the "Classic face" has the same shape 360-degree resemblance to my priced possession Suqqu cheek brush. (Which is referenced by Lisa Eldridge as "fresh bloom to your cheeks") though when I use my Suqqu brush, I love it for all over face powder application. However, the blue squirrel hair on the Suqqu cheek was so fragile that I am concerned that when the bristles touch my face a bit wet from the foundation, it starts to shed hair or damage the brush, so I was looking for an alternative, Where I see this "Classic face" as a beautiful contender.

last be not least, as this is my first impression review on the brush set, I am going to experiment how i prefer to use the mini base. The two options are: 1) To use it to apply my Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Bronzing Cream, (which is a stable in my makeup) I bought this first time 8 years ago as a student, finished my first 30 gram jar, and recently repurchased a fresh one to introduce back to my routine. I currently to use it with my Sephora Synthetic buffer brush for mineral powders, (this one is with me for 10 years as well) and no other buffer brush has replaced it since. So I will see how the application compares. 2) Another option is to buff in my concealers as I am experimenting to simplify my base makeup with just applying some concealer on the centre of my face, and blend the Dior Forever Skin Correct for a minimal makeup look.

Overall, I can safely say the first impression is been great, and hats off to Sonia for her genius choices. I read from her blog that this set will be gone for good once sold out, that is why I bought it so soon after its release, (usually it takes me 3-6 months to justify a brush choice) But I would recommend anyone who sees a fit of this set in your collection to snatch it up before it's gone.

What perfect brushes!! I love the handle length and size of these. They are small but not what I would call “mini”. They are the same length as a lot of my other fude. I actually like the three eye brushes better than their dyed versions. They all have a bit more give and are softer. I absolutely love the two face brushes. The base brush fits perfectly into my concealer pan and will be the perfect touch up tool. There is nothing in my fude collection like it. The blush brush I need to play with more - I just got this set yesterday - but I love that it’s different both from Sonia’s other brushes and anything else I have. I’m a fude collector and while some of the Japanese companies make brushes I love to display, Sonia always makes brushes that I both want to display AND use. Her brushes are incredibly thought out and she always puts so much knowledge and passion into her brush designs. I have followed Sonia since about 2012 when I became obsessed with fude and used her blog to become more educated on them. I am so happy she started her company and keeps designing absolute masterpieces. Love this set and love Sonia <3

Sonia G Keyaki brush set it’s a super soft and hight quality brushes. They are so soft and gentle to the face and eyes. The softest brushes I ever had! Size Is really great for purse or travelling. 100% worth it and I can understand why it’s a limited edition set. Take it before it’s gone! You will love it!

These brushes are for travel. If you are looking for regular size brushes you will not like them.

I bought them because I wanted to test the foundation brush. This brush is perfect for liquid /cream blush or concealer. For base it would take a long time to get your whole face done. The powder brush can be used for bronzer, blush or setting /finishing powder but it travel size, for every day I prefer the regular size that is larger, this One is small for me. Its size is like a medium blush brush. I've added some picks, you can see the difference with Classic Cheek by Sonia G and with Chikuhodo RC-2.

About the eye brushes, the hair is identical to Sonia G's regular ones (not dyed) with another handle. In the photo you can see the comparison and I have added in the case of Flat Definer the Chikuhodo T-12 brush that I love and it is practically identical, although the hair is a little more silky than the Sonia G.

Please Sonia this set asks for a pouch matching to keep them, I need it !!!! It would also be wonderful a brush like the foundation of this set in a regular size to apply liquid foundation, I would love a brush like that and another in a smaller size for the concealer.

They are made of a very good quality material, I really like the matte black and wood design. Despite following the provided measurements with a ruler and comparing them to my other brushes, I still found them smaller than expected. The circumference and the smooth finish and the very light weight make them hard to hold and use for me, they are small, thin, light and so smooth that they're slippery. I can't think of what to use the mini base brush for, the classic face keeps slipping out of my hand, there is something about how thin it is and all the weight being at the hairs. I really wanted to love these and I wish they were just a bit bigger and longer but they are not for my hands.

This is a beautiful set. The craftmanship is exquisite and I can see myself using this set as my goto for when I travel. If you want to keep it in your handbag for quick touch-ups on a night out - this set is perfect. Unlike other 'travel' brush sets - every brush is one that I will use. Often travel sets have some mascara or eyebrow brush that ends up sitting in a drawer unopened. At least every brush in this set has a purpose! I'm tempted to get a second set for myself. I hope she makes this as part of her permanent collection. If you prefer a long handled brush then this set is definitely NOT for you.

I love this set of brushes. I own two of her other brushes (flat definer and soft shader from the sky line) As someone who has smaller eyes, this set is amazing. The eye brushes are perfect for eyes like mine. I also understand that this set is meant for travel or on the go set, so I LOVE the short handles. It makes it easy to pack or stick in your purse.

I was cringing at the price, but literally they would be $25 each, and I have spent more for one brush before LOL. Anyways, when I received them, I quickly did a review video on my YT (xolivi) and showed a demo on the brushes using my favorite makeup items. I ONLY used these 5 brushes opposed to my usual uhhh.... 12 or so lol. So this for a fact, would be amazing for travel. This was such a good purchase and I am very happy with it. I also love the brown handles, it makes it looks so elegant and earthy.

This is what I've been waiting for!!! I think I own all of Sonia G.'s brushes and clearly love them. In my pre covid life I traveled extensively and honestly, packing her brushes were difficult, especially her first release with the wider red handles. Those handles are lovely, but too much for me, for travel. They Sky set with the tapered handles were better for travel. But this set is truly perfect for travel. I will undoubtedly still travel with more brushes in my kit lol, but this set certainly helps lighten the load. They are beautiful!
