I ordered this thinking it was a medium size product. What I received was tiny and if you have bigger hands, it will look even smaller. I don't have big hands. I am also thinking that the color white is not really practical, I tested it and the mascara goes on the plastic and it is not easy to clean it because of the dents. I will try to use it a few more times. It is easier to hold it under your lower lashes and apply mascara than on your upper eyelids. Also the mascara will still clump and you will still need a fan brush to remove the excess so the guard just protects your skin from getting mascara. I like it but not super impressed with it. They sell these for $1 on amazon and they and they come from China.
Lets be real, if your doing your own makeup you probably don't need this. This is really only for use on a client. You can get crafty and cut a notecard to the appropriate shape and use that to cover your clients lid... but that takes way too much effort and you would have to do that over and over again because you cant sterilize a notecard. In the long run you would end up spending money on notecards and a lot of effort when you could just purchase this for $10. This is small, lightweight and reusable. You can sanitize it easily and the fact that its white in color lets you know you if you got all the mascara off completely. I loved this little sucker. It makes it so much easier to apply mascara on a client because you don't have to be as precise and you can really get in there and press in the product to the lashes without ruining the shadow.
The lash guard has definitely helped keep mascara from transferring to my lid. I have pretty hooded eyes and have gotten mascara on the hood of my eye on more than one occasion. Still getting used to holding it and figuring out what the best way to use it is. I've definitely noticed a difference in the way my lashes stand as well. The length of my lashes starts to wilt after about a half hour. I'd recommend warming up your lash curler with a blow dryer or a lighter, then curling your lashes before using the lash guard. I usually do about 2-3 coats of mascara with the lash guard.
