Maifanshi Makeup Color Base

The Makeup Bases perform perfectly and all of the shades perform different task that do truly work. I have used the Green one on people that have redness to their skin and rosacea and it really does tone down the redness before foundation application without leaving that green tint to the skin which can make people look sick.

The Yellow makeup base is a personal favorite that I use personally. Whenever you use this on anyone that has golden or olive undertone skin it amps up the undertone and makes the skin look radiant without looking ashy or ghostly

The Lavender Pink shade was great to use for fatigue reasons. I usually used this on the under eye and forehead area for radiance boosting and slight highlighting

The standard primer that comes in the black tube is a true smoothing primer that makes the skin a even canvas before makeup application!

All serve their purposes you just have to pick which ones compliment your skin or concerns best!

I would agree with Alicia's assessment of these Maifanshi bases being products that ride the line between color correctors and foundation primers. Are there tons of color correcting foundation primers on the market these days? Yes. What makes these a bit different?

In addition to color correcting discoloration on the skin and providing a base for the foundation to lie upon, these bases also plump the skin up a bit so your skin looks and feels soft and hydrated. I liken it more to a cream because texture wise, it is very different from more traditional thin(ish) silicone based foundation primers. These bases work on all skin types, even oily. The genius lies in how the powders in this product are cut because they create different light variations and reflections on the skin, which is what erases shadows on the skin from pores, fine lines, roughness, and uneven skin tones. There is a flat plate type powder that works to absorb oil and keep the foundation looking fresh, and the gel technology allows for foundation to move easily with facial expressions without settling in fine lines. This product sits on top of the skin and makes it so the foundation is less likely to sink; hence better coverage with less product.

When you apply it, what you want to do is hit any areas on the face with concealer first. Take a small amount of the foundation base and apply it using a stippling motion making sure that the sides of any facial lines and pores are covered. You don't want to blend this base into the skin because you don't want it to merge with your concealer layer. You don't necessarily have to apply the base to your entire face; you can use it on more targeted areas or you can use the Pearl White to highlight. You want to start with a very small amount and build it up if need be. I then let the base sit on the skin for a few minutes to let the product acclimate, and then I apply the foundation. Another important thing to note....You want to stipple the foundation over the base. Do not rub your foundation in side to side or circular moments because doing so will kill the effect, and all the products that you used on the face will mesh together.

I use the Green base on fair skin tones. It's great for diffusing surface redness.

I use the Yellow base on light, medium, and medium to dark skin tones to tame redness and to perk the complexion up.

I use the Pearl White base on fair to medium skin tones. It gives the skin a nice sort of translucent glow.

I use the Lavender Pink base on is fair to medium skin tones neutralize any sallowness on the skin.

All in all, these bases are fantastic. Why 4 stars instead of 5? Texture.... I'm very weird when it comes to the texture of any given product, and I find these bases to be a bit more sticky versus creamy... not a deal breaker though. In addition, I think there's a slight learning curve to using these bases that may take you a few tries to get the balance just right on your skin; again, not a deal breaker. I am really quite fond of these bases, and I truly believe that they are very underrated. Once again, another stellar product from Koh Gen Do.

This base is sincerely the perfect harmony between a color corrector and a primer. Having fair skin, I have a natural red surface tone which I always try and neutralize before applying foundation. Not only does this sit beautifully on the skin and not "ball" like a lot of primers can but it has a very nice velvet texture that sits right on top of the skin for a perfect canvas. Additionally, there is not a great cast rather than a completely neutralized, yet very natural brightness to the skin. I'd say it can even be worn with or without foundation depending on the level of coverage you are looking for. It's like the fine wine of makeup bases :)

I am super, super, super oily. Super.

As in - after five hours you can see your reflection in my face oily. With the winter being so silly in the south this year, I've found I went from happy skin to dull dry skin super fast. My face was a mess and it was frustrating. But, I got a consult and decided to give this a try.

My thoughts going into using this was two fold : Primer and add some radiance.

What I found out is I only needed it in my tzone and so I put it there and across my cheeks. Tone down a little redness. Deflect some shadows, you know, keep it nice and even.

The result was definitely interesting. My foundation didn't move, nor did it fade, nor did oil break through. AT ALL.

Ten hours later I was still bullet proof. Let me tell ya, I'd use this stuff as eye primer too - it's that great.

I do want to try all the colors of this formula and if you're DRY? Well, you don't need primer odds are anyway but definitely skip this one. Your foundation is home for good when you wear this so make. sure. you. like. it.

This primer is just heaven sent for my oily skin. It controls oil really well for most of the day. I might have to do some minor blotting after 8 hours nothing major though. The color works well to neutralize the sallowness of my skin. I simply pat it on instead of rubbing like the directions indicate. My foundation wears longer and looks much better with this underneath. I will definitely repurchase once I run out.

Amazing product! I am recently struggling with dry skin and adult acne and this product works wonders. I blend it on problem areas, underneath eyes and around my nose to diminish pores before applying foundation. It leaves skin with a natural glow and covers any sign of redness without looking cakey or irritating my skin. Truly amazed at how much I like this product! Worth every penny!

I'm not usually someone who bothers with primer, but I find the pearl white color base helps boost the lighter foundations that I prefer. I has a slight blurring effect and mostly just helps the foundation stay all day without feeling heavy or like a full coverage foundation. I especially like it under the Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder. A really small amount is all I need (and it blends easily) so the tube lasts me quite a while!

I've tried a few yellow color correcting primers in the past, with hopes that they would even out the redness in my neutral/olive skin AND provide a smooth canvas for my foundation. In my experience, most either didn't perform on the priming front, or were so yellow they made me look sickly. Finally I tried the Koh Gen Do Color Base!

I have yet to try the full range, but the yellow primer really reduces the redness on my cheeks and keeps my makeup looking great all day! I've also had no reaction on my sensitive skin, which is always important!

I love their products. This requires very little and keeps your makeup all day. Worth it.
