Velvet Trap Lipstick

I really wanted to like this lipstick, but it is nothing like its picture. It looks like it's supposed to be opaque, but it's very sheer (feels like pure shea butter- soft but not lasting pigment wise). Will be returning for something with pigment that does not go away with a single finger swipe.

Love this formula! Looks like velvet but feels creamy, hydrating & amazing on the lips! The packaging is gorgeous & practical for on the go. It’s not a long wear formula BUT it does have some staying power; fades beautifully throughout the day. I really hope he releases a ton more colors in this bullet formula. I would live for a Calabasas in Velvet Trap! Will definitely order more & recommend giving it a try if you haven’t!

I’m usually a liquid lip kind of girl, but this is a true one swipe lipstick, it lasted literally all day with minimal touch ups, and it smells SO GOOD omg!! I am so impressed with the packaging it came in and the embossed logo design on the lipstick itself! I am shocked by how well it wears without smudging or getting spotty considering it’s not a liquid lipstick. I bought in shades Honey Suck Me and Medieval Kiss. The application is smooth and flawless and Velvet-y, just like the product name implies. I think I found my new fav brand, holy cow this is good stuff 🙌🏼

I watched Jeffree's video swatching all of these and I fell in love with So Jaded and Drill Sergeant. I tried them and was a little disappointed to tell you the truth. I love Jeffree products, and when he said that he redid the lip ammunition formula into a very opaque formula I was super excited, but sadly these two that I purchased were not opaque at all. I could see my lip color through them, in my opinion Gargoyle from the old collection is a better version color opaque wise than Drill Sergeant. I'm not returning because I do like them and the packaging is gorgeous, but again I'm a little sad by the formula of these two.

This shade is absolutely stunning! It’s the perfect peachy nude on my skin tone and it’s exactly what I’ve been searching for. The formula is also super lightweight and lasts a very long time on the lips😍🙌

I purchased four shades of this new lipstick formula: Naked Body, Unicorn Blood, Malibu Beach House, and Honey, Suck Me.

Across the shades, the formula is peculiar. It feels like a flour and lip balm paste on your mouth. Not exactly unpleasant, but it does not feel like a normal lipstick.

There's a powdery finish that keeps things quite matte--velvet even! Unfortunately the finish contributes to the biggest issue with the formula: it does not sit smoothly on the mouth. You only get one swipe or it bunches up.

For the more normal shades Naked Body and Unicorn Blood, the coverage is acceptable. Unicorn Blood stains the lips, so do be aware. Malibu Beach House is quite patchy, as is Honey Suck Me.

What made me write this review is the shade Honey Suck Me. In daylight, the color looks completely different from the lip swatch. I expected a nice Mid Century coral (think Tongue Pop from Blood Sugar) and got Barbie pink, screaming blue undertones, which look awful on my very cool toned fair skin.

In summary, the least exciting shades were passable and the two interesting shades were unusable. Jeffree Star Cosmetics generally makes lovely products. But Velvet Trap? Hard pass.

I got celebrity skin and naked body. I adire both. Packaging Is very luxurious, great magnetic shut cap. Feels high quality. Love the feel of the lipstick on the lips, feels just like velvet. Star logo on the lipstick itself is super cute. I'll for sure be buying more

love all JSC lip products, but this one is the best, glides smoothly on lips, certainly one application does it, perfect of course with the JSC unicorn blood lip liner - I love it so much!

I made a review after trying for the first time and only gave 3 stars for first impression. After having for a couple weeks now, they are absolutely beautiful and deserve 5 stars. I bought celebrity skin and naked body. Beautiful finish and product.

The color is so beautiful and perfect!! It goes on smoothly and the smell is so remarkable!
