Veil Mineral Primer

Meet Hourglass's Veil Mineral Primer. If you're oily, you've just met The One. According to the Hourglass website, this primer makes your pores and fine lines barely noticeable, ensures that your foundation stays put all day, protects your skin from the suns rays, and, get ready ladies:

WATERPROOFS YOUR MAKEUP. Mmmmmhmmmm girl, you read that right! Now I'm not saying swim in the ocean and act like you're a Victoria's Secret model running on the beach for a photo shoot right after, but for day to day wear, this is gorgeous! Speaking of pictures, don't worry about the SPF, there is no white cast when using flash. And when I say this is for you oily girls, I mean it! I have tried mattifying products from more brands than I can even remember, and this is hands down the best oil controlling product out there! It doesn't make you stay completely matte all day, but the level of dewiness it imparts on your skin is actually a desirable and healthy looking glow.

Also, Ive decided that from now on when I rave (or rant) about a product, I'm going to get all scientific and tell you what the ingredients do. I think if you're a product junkie like me or you're interested in skincare, you might want to know what you're putting into the biggest organ you have!

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer: What's in it?

Cyclopentasiloxane: This is a silicone, it gives the primer that silky slip that you feel when applying it to your face. However, that function of this ingredient is just one amazing factor. Cyclopentasiloxane is one of the ingredients that makes the primer water resistant. It also hel ps plump the skin wherever imperfections like enlarged pores or fine lines happen to be. This ingredient is also pretty nice to have in your primer because it absorbs fast into the skin, delivering its benefits and leaving you feeling hydrated, but not sticky! Remember, this is the FIRST ingredient. That means there is more of this than any other things in the product! You better already be hooked.

Isododecane: This also aids in the spreadability of the product. It doesnt do a ton of other things though.

Polysilicone-11: This is a "film-forming" agent that could possibly be another ingredient that helps make your makeup water resistant and leaves your skin feeling smooth.

Polymethylsilsesquioxane: This does the exact same thing as the previous ingredients!

Hexyl Laurate: Ohhhh, look how fancy this one is! Its a skin softening ingredient! Sweet :)

Peg-10 Dimethicone: Skin softening! I get the feeling Hourglass likes to double up on the ingredients...can't hurt right?

Polyglyceryl-4 Isosterate: Softening and soothing!

Stearic Acid: This just makes the product thicker.

Alumina: Thickening.

All in all, this is a pretty darn amazing product! Like I said, if you're oily, it is a must have!!

I was in my local beauty supply store to replenish a few of my Make Up For Ever HD shades...Of course, I always see something else that catches my eye,and it happened to be the Hourglass display. I had heard so many wonderful things about this primer, so I figured 'why not..' Well,when I saw the price, I was a bit taken aback. $53 for a primer....Really???? Hmmmmmm. I put it back down.

I usually use Too Faced's Primed and Poreless and MUFE Microperfecting Primers, and I have never had any cause to discontinue using them, but I just had to have this primer to see for myself if it was worth the hype. Well, I just applied this to my skin,and let me say this: This is, in my opinion, The Mack Daddy of Primers, and here's why.....

It has the consistency of a watery lotion of sorts. When applied to the skin, your skin just sucks it up like a dehydrated person that's just finished a triathlete. I noticed an immediate firmness....I waited another minute and the fine lines around my eyes started to disappear along with the semi visible pores around my nose tighten up. It feels like a fine fine layer of silk on the skin, and that's something that I have never experienced with any other primer on the market. I then applied the Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation on top of it, and wow....It looked like I had brand new baby skin!

So what is in this freakish miracle concoction? The primary ingredient: Cyclopentasiloxane. What is this? well, it's a silicone that makes it easy to apply and spread while giving your foundation a certain slip factor. No slip factor equals trying to make a tight right hand turn with no power steering...Sure you can do it, but it certainly isn't the easiest thing to do. It also plumps the skin and leaves your skin super hydrated without feeling oily or sticky.

You only need a very small amount to get full face coverage prior to foundation application. This primer has kept my makeup in place all day with no setting or fixative spray at all. This is a fantastic primer for someone with oily and or combination skin. It does come in a smaller 'test' size,and that only costs $18 vs.the $53 full size bottle. This primer is worth every penny! Trust me.

this primer makes my skin feel like silk...no velvet!! its smooth and long-wearing, a gorgeous product! after a while my makeup tends to rub off no matter what i do throughout the day the first day i tried this i didn't have to do any touch ups and at 11PM when i got home it still looked amazing! i love the look, the color and the feel this product gives to your skin and i believe its perfect for all skin types and colors :D

Love this!!! Very soft and fills in very well. Quality is very high. Better than all other primers I have used. Works best with all skin types not just dry or oily.

All the other primers on the market should just quit and discontinue their products/save themselves the time & money because Hourglass just went to Mars & back with this primer!

After trying a sample of this primer, I really wanted to find something cheaper that I liked as much or even almost as much.

Nope.

This stuff is the holy grail of primers for me. I sampled several others including Smashbox, Pur Minerals, Shiseido, Benefit... Nothing compares in terms of the lightweight, smooth, satiny finish of this product. Pur Minerals was close and I was tempted to try it, but while it had a similar application and feel... the performance was not as good. With this product, I am seeing incredibly matte, long lasting results. I am prone to getting really shiny after only a couple of hours, so I need something for oil control and keeping my make up on my face.

This is amazeballs.

I recently purchased a few items from Beautylish for the first time. I was so excited to receive this particular item since I already ran out. I have been using this primer for quite sometime now and I have to say that it is the best by far. I use it before putting on my foundation may it be MAC, MakeUp Forever HD or Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk, it works wonders with all of them.

Just to add, Beautylish sent me the wrong size for this product. I ordered a 30ml and they sent me an 8.9ml instead. I was so disappointed as this was my first time to order. I then sent a message thru email and twitter to file my complaint. Bess of Beautylish replied right away and promised me that she would send the correct item to me ASAP. True enough I received the item after 4 days despite living all the way in the Philippines!! They also refunded me the $54 I paid for the 30ml even if they sent it to me and not just that, I get to keep the 8.9ml too!! I am so amazed with their customer service!! I just purchased another $185 loot just because I am soooooo extremely happy with Beautylish!!! Will purchase again real soon!!!!

I first bought the mini to see how it would work with my skin. I had already fallen in love with the Vanish stick foundation and powder as well. As always the packaged arrived quickly and wrapped securely and was a complete joy to unwrap. Beautylish always surprises me with a couple of samples to try as well. I am a beautylish customer for life. I always purchase products from them over the product website or Sephora/Ulta. The experience is always better and the prices are always the same. Next purchase will be the 60 ml bottle I love this primer so much. It smoothes, doesn't accentuate wrinkles, pores and my makeup lasts ALL day. Pretty impressive with this 51-year-old skin.

Lately, I've been searching for that perfect primer, and I'm pretty sure I've found it. I have used everything under the sun. Smashbox, Benenfit, Too Faced...the list goes on, but this one is by far my favorite. The texture is silky when you apply it, but it dries like a powder. I can easily blend my makeup in, and it lasts all day. Honestly, my search is over!

I've been using this product for about 2 weeks now and I'm dumbfounded. It's absolutely amazing! This has definitely become my HG Primer. It glides on so smoothly and gives you the same feel that non mineral primers have. It works well for my dry/combo skin.

Pros: Makeup stays put for at least 8 hrs. Blurs and fills in my fine lines and acne scars SPF 15

Cons: I feel like one pump is a bit too much for my entire face Price
